Inputting Final Grades

Below are instructions on how to enter a Last Date of Attendance using the Faculty Grade Entry page access via Atlas and Canvas.

Atlas Faculty Grade Entry

  1. Log in to Atlas
  2. Click on the Faculty tab
  3. Click on the Faculty Services link inside the Faculty channel/box :

 

  1. Click on Final/Midterm Grades

 

You will be directed to the Faculty Grade Entry page:

Grading Status Icons:

  • No Grades have been entered for students in the course.  You may enter the Last Date of Attendance.

  • Some Grades have been entered for students in the course.   You may enter the Last Date of Attendance.

  • All Grades have been entered for students in the course.   You may enter the Last Date of Attendance.

 

You can click on the up/down arrows beside the CRN heading to sort by CRN.

  

 

You can select to display more/less CRNs by selecting the number you want displayed. You will see the option on the right side of the screen below the list of CRNs.

       

 

  1. The page should default to Final Grades; if it does not, click on the Final Grades tab.  You will see all the courses you have taught in the past as well as the courses you are currently teaching.

 

  1. Locate the course you wish to enter final grades for and click on it.

 

  1. Once you click on a course, students will be displayed below the list of CRNs.
    • Depending on the number of courses being displayed, you may need to scroll down to see the roster for the course selected.

 

  1. Once you have selected a student, click on the field with the down arrow under “Final Grade” and update the grade.

  • Final grades of I, W, F require a last date of attendance to be entered.
  • Final Grade of ‘Not Gradable’ indicate the student is withdrawn from the course, grade cannot be updated.

 

  1. Once you click on save, you should see the following message on the top-right corner of the screen.

 

Canvas

In Canvas, a Withdrawn student is marked as “Inactive” and is hidden in the Gradebook.  To locate the student and enter a Last Date of Attendance:

  1.  Hover over the Student Name column header and click on the .

 

  1. From the drop-down menu, select Inactive Enrollments:

 

 

  1. Locate and click on the name of the inactive student:

 

  1. A window will open on the right-hand side of the page; click on the Name of the student again:

 

  1. This will take you to the student’s Access Report page. Select Access Report from the menu at the top right-hand corner:

 

  1. View the Student Access Report menu.  The date in Last Viewed correlating with the most recent Times Participated is your official Last Date of Attendance for the student.


 

  1. Return to the Gradebook page.  Hover over the Actions menu and select Sync to Export Final Grades to Banner

 

 

  1. The Sync Grades window will open:

 

 

  1. Locate the inactive student and check the box next to their name: 

  1. Select W from the Grade dropdown menu:

 

  1. Under the Last Date of Attendance, enter the date retrieved in Step 6.  For no-shows, enter the first day of class as the Last Date of Attendance.

 

 

  1. Review the check mark, grade and date.  Scroll down and click on Submit Grades to Banner.
