Windows 10:

NOTE: When on the Valencia network, e.g., when on a docking station on site, and on a Valencia Windows-based device, connecting to network drives should happen automatically. If there is an issue, try restarting the computer first and making sure you are connected to the network.
NOTE: If you are off-site, you will need to connect to the VPN using the GlobalProtect VPN client. If you do not have this installed, install it using Software Center.

Open File Explorer from the taskbar or the Start menu, or press the Windows logo key (see example below) and the letter E at the same time.

Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the Computer tab, select Map network drive.

In the Drive list, select a drive letter. (For Example S for the S: drive)

In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer:
For the S drive type \\shares-fs.local.valenciacc.edu\shares
For the I drive type \\home-fs.local.valenciacc.edu\home-folder\YOURUSERNAMEHERE

To connect every time you sign in to your PC, select Reconnect at sign-in.

Select Finish.
Windows 11:

Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the File Explorer ribbon, select More > Map network drive.
Note: If you don't see Map network drive on the More menu, you can right-click the This PC node in the folder pane and you'll see the command there.

In the Drive list, select a drive letter. (For Example S for the S: drive)

In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer:
For the S drive type \\shares-fs.local.valenciacc.edu\shares
For the I drive type \\home-fs.local.valenciacc.edu\home-folder\YOURUSERNAMEHERE

To connect every time you sign in to your PC, select Reconnect at sign-in.

Select Finish.
Apple/Mac:
NOTE: If you are off-site, you will need to connect to the VPN using the GlobalProtect VPN client. If you have a JAMF enabled device, you can download the GlobalProtect VPN through Software Center. If not, please call 407-582-5555 for assistance.
NOTE: Minimize or close other applications and click an empty space on the main desktop screen.
On an Apple/Mac you will need to press the Command Key (see below for reference) and letter K on the keyboard at the same time.
NOTE: (on a Windows keyboard, you will use the Windows Key instead):

This will prompt you to connect to the network drive.
Type the information above for S or I drive as needed with smb:// in the front. (See the example photo below for reference.)
For S Drive:
smb://shares-fs.local.valenciacc.edu/shares
For I Drive: (Note: Most Faculty/Staff do not have an I: drive):
smb://fs-home/home-folder

Once the information is entered, you can hit connect.
NOTE: You may initially be prompted for your Valencia username and password. Be sure to enter just your username which is to the left of your @valenciacollege.edu email address.
NOTE: If you do this regularly, it is recommended that you hit the + icon on the bottom left to add it as a favorite server. You can then double-click it under favorite servers in the future to connect.
