SSATEXT Instructions for Departments - Banner

Departments often create sections that have special information or instructions for students.  Verbiage for the special information/instructions must be added to each CRN every term. The Banner form used to record the special information/instructions is SSATEXT.  Below are the procedures for recording information/instructions that will be e-mailed and/or displayed on the Class Schedule Search.

 

Do not use URLs in either section of SSATEXT as they do not appear as hyperlinks/links when the information is displayed in the Class Search.

Course materials can be found on the Bookstore Links tab automatically so there is no need to include URLs in SSATEXT:

  1. To send an e-mail to students upon registration into a course AND to display information about the course on the Class Schedule Search:

 

  1. Enter the Term and CRN information and click Go:

 

  1. In Section Text enter the verbiage you wish to have e-mailed to the student upon their registration into the course:

 

  1. In Section Long Text enter the verbiage you wish to display on the class searches:

Students must click on the Title of the course shown in the Class Schedule Search results to open the window shown below:

 

 

  1. If you want to display information about the course on the Class Schedule Search but you do not want an e-mail sent to the students upon registration into the course:

 

  1. Do not enter Section Text:

 

  1. In Section Long Text enter the verbiage you wish to display on the Class Schedule Search:

Students must click on the Title of the course shown in the Class Schedule Search results to open the window shown below:

 

 

  1. If you want to send an e-mail to the student upon registration into the course but do not want to display information on the class searches, you have two options:

 

  1. Option One: 

i.In Section Text enter the verbiage you want to have e-mailed to the student upon their registration into the course:

 

ii.In Section Long Text enter a period:

  1. Option Two:

 

i.In Section Text enter the verbiage you want to have e-mailed to the student upon their registration into the course:

 

ii. In the Section Long Text, enter a comment that students will receive an e-mail with information upon registration into the course (sample/suggested verbiage below in screenshot)—if you do not, the Section Text will display on the Class Search but NOT the website Class Search:
